Looking around downtown, it seems the adults have grabbed this weekend for Halloween parties. I have been seeing people wearing costumes every night since last Thursday night. It is fun. I just find it remarkable that a holiday for children is being celebrated so early in the week along with all the long 3-day weekend by adults. I guess wanting to dress up and act silly isn’t just for kids.

I’ve been a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) for five years now, and I’m grateful for every minute I’ve been able to spend with my kids. No amount of work outside the home could ever fulfill me in the way that being a mom has. As my children are getting a little older now, though, I recently decided to start pursuing my dream of owning my own cupcake business and running it out of my home so that I can still spend quality time with my little ones. Let me tell you, it’s been hectic, frustrating and fraught with doubts from time to time, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding!
The truth is, with the right equipment and a gung-ho attitude, I’m certain that any SAHM could replicate what I’ve been doing. Once I decided to take the plunge, I knew I needed to keep my overhead low while still maintaining a professional look to my kitchen and to my products. I used the budget-friendly Culinary Depot to outfit my kitchen with the cake-baking accessories I needed, and I used word of mouth and free social media to start marketing my business. I’ve been so pleased by the support I’ve gotten, especially from other moms. I’m starting small with catering birthday parties and christenings, but I can already see the potential my business has for the future.
From what I hearing the amount of people taking advantage of all the online degree programs that are being offered more and more these days for people, that for what ever reason, choose not to attend the regular/standard class room classes that most of us attended back in our formal education days.
My good friend Skip, I just recently found out, has always wanted to be a 7th grade teacher, not 6th grade nor a 8th grade, it has to be 7th grade, for reasons that he is keeping to himself at this point. And now that his kids are grown and out of the house and he and his wife split up, he is all about what HE wants and what He needs, and I think He is crazy! No not really, well maybe just a tad, it’s just that I never knew that he had always wanted to be a teacher. I know he is good with kids, but teaching them every day, day in and day out, week after week, month after month, ugh it makes my head hurt just thinking about be stuck in a classroom with 20 or 30 loud, wild and crazy teenaged kids! He really must be committed to this dream in order to be seriously talking about and checking out the online degree programs in pa teaching certification at this point in his life.
It seems that his sister is currently working on becoming a board certified behavior analyst with this particular online university and that has really helped him feel comfortable and what apparently has got him all fired up and ready to roll. Nothing like good old fashioned sibling rivalry to stir things up a bit, right?
I’m assuming that he has the money all ready saved up to take these courses, if not there is ample assistance for today’s students to aid in the cost involved in obtaining these degrees. But I’ll send him a few links that I have come up with, like the one http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ which will take him to a Free Application For Federal Student Aid, it is the least I can do for the guy at this point. Don’t get me wrong here, I applaud anyone for wanting to go back to school, no matter how old they are, where they live or what they want to be “when I grow up” but some of their choices just baffle me.
I’ve been encouraged by my sister-in-law to look into the mac recording hardware that she sent a link to at musician’s friend that is on the market these days. We are desperate to find the perfect gift for my niece for her high school graduation gift for this up and coming big event that the whole family is looking forward to in May 2017.
Since they live so far away from me I really don’t know him very well and was really struggling to find something that he would really appreciate and enjoy from me. Luckily my sister-in-law sent me the perfect link to where I could find this product online since I have no clue when it comes to audio interface and that all technical stuff available today.
Once again, thank goodness for the Internet it certainly helped save my butt this time around. I will have this in the bag in plenty of time. Now I need to start focusing more on Christmas!
A very good friend of mine is an inspiring musician and had begun traveling around the US to inspire others with his beautiful music. He recently was given an Eastwood H44 Airline guitar by his Mother last Christmas and is playing it every time I talk or see him. He had brought to one of our mutual friends attention that he is having a financial crisis due to being laid off by his last job a few months back.
Being me I always want to bring a big smile on someones face when they are having hard times, so I thought Id do some investigating on exactly what more he needs to start his musician career besides his new guitar. I had found out from his sister that he has been searching around for a new amp to connect his guitar to, because apparently the one he had was in bad condition and didn’t work half the time, like it was supposed to. I took a few days to search around for one, and came across the best fender super champ xd that was within my budget at Guitar Center.
I ordered it immediately, and my oh my – my friend was so surprised and so overwhelmed that he got an amp for his guitar. He had mentioned that he wanted this exact amp for quit some time now, just had a hard time gathering money up for it since he has no income. After some time of practicing more and more, he had what it took to become a Rockstar and started a band of his own. Today he is in LA, performing and inspiring many. I couldn’t be happier for him, and he constantly says he couldn’t have done it without the help of his Mother and I.
