Divine Twine

For the past several months I drive my sister to her singing/voice lessons which in the part of town that has a good amount of quaint small town locally owned businesses, right at the far end of old town. If I forget to bring something to read and the weather isn’t being user friendly, I always have the option of taking a nice stroll around the few city blocks and enjoying the sights, the smell and the whole “warm and fuzzy” feeling that one gets when walking in the part of town that is just reeking of history, generations after generations of families who worked so hard to make a name for them selves in town and have managed to hold onto their small piece of the world through the good times as well as the bad times.

One of my favorite shops is all about crafts with various twines and paper goods along with packaging and other interestingĀ  baking tools and goods that today’s bakers can just go wild using on their baked goods! I have never been considered a good baker, but I’m not necessarily known for being the best either. I used to have a blast in the kitchen when my daughter was much younger and she actually wanted to spend time with me in the kitchen. Those days are long gone!

My all time favorite was to make and bake various types of Christmas cookies with her to give out to friends, neighbors, co workers and family members. We would even send a batch to school for her to give to her teacher as a holiday gift. We would use the recipe that my grandfather used from back in the day when he still lived in London as a boy. I have made sure that this recipe will never get lost and that it will forever be considered Grand Dad’s Special Christmas Cookies!

Goblins and Ghosts

Looking around downtown, it seems the adults have grabbed this weekend for Halloween parties. I have been seeing people wearing costumes every night since last Thursday night. It is fun. I just find it remarkable that a holiday for children is being celebrated so early in the week along with all the long 3-day weekend by adults. I guess wanting to dress up and act silly isn’t just for kids.

Back To School

School starts September 2nd, the Tuesday after Labor Day and there is much to be done for us both. A few things we have managed to take care of online. We ordered some really cute clothes for her that should be arriving here real soon.

We got most of the school supplies that we are sure are going to be needed. We won’t know what the rest is until we go to Back To School Night where we will get her schedule, meet her teachers and get the supply lists that hopefully will only have a few surprises on them that we aren’t all ready prepared with and for.

We also took care of the guitar parts needs so that she will have herĀ martin om-28 acoustic guitar in best possible shape for her first year of guitar lessons in public school. She basically taught herself how to play and has had several people teach her a few things here and there but she has never had a formal class and is excited to be in a class that she will enjoy instead of one of the core classes that she finds so boring as well as challenging.

Seamless Shape Wear

Funny how sisters become so much alike even way after they have grown up and been on their own for a good amount of time. The reason I say this is that I am always on the look out for the best bra for my shape and size while my one sister is always on the look out for seamless shape wear. And when ever either one of us is out and about we seem to take the time and see if there is something that the other would like the look and feel of.

I got so used to trying on seamless shape wear for my sister that I now am starting to notice how much a stupid little seem can irate my skin, something that I’ve never felt or noticed before. So now I am always looking out for under garments that are seamless and I have my sister to thank for that. – BTW – I am being sarcastic here sis, I know you will be reading this!

Takamine Jumbo Cutaway

The Takamine GJ72CE-12 G Series jumbo Cutaway 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar that I just ordered online will arrive well before I need to get it ready for shipping out to my nephew in Arizona. This will be first summer that he will be spending in their new home, so many thousands of miles away from the rest of the family that has a traditional Memorial Day Weekend gathering.

I want to wrap it up nicely and ship it to him as soon as possible as to avoid having to rush at the last minute, as I usually do. It’s a good thing that this company doesn’t charge me the shipping and handling costs to get it here to me.

A nice looking piece of work, wouldn’t you say. Next on my list is going to be to find a good priced peavey classic 20 amp that will be able to blow the paint off of the walls!
