Thank you, Reynold’s wrap! If it wasn’t for the Reynold’s cooking bags, who know how my turkey would have turned out? As it was, it turned out perfect! Can you believe it? The turkey was golden brown, very juicy and really tender, with lots of juices in the bag to make the gravy. Everything turned out great! I am a cooking champion!

I’m not a great cook but I succumbed to intense peer pressure and bought a turkey at Publix today. I will cook a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, with this turkey and all the traditional side dishes and even some desserts. I hope I can find some help with cooking instructions for this turkey on the internet. I wonder if Martha Stewart can cook a simple turkey or does it have to be all dressed up special with paper thingies on its legs? I’ll see if Martha can help.

OK – I didn’t even know what a BFF is until about a year ago. I’m not all that into computers and this blog is taking a lot out of me to even figure out things, like how to find a theme and set it up. And how to upgrade WordPress every time I turn around. But thanks to a commercial for a phone company where a little girl is texting and talks about her “BFF” I finally asked a geek WTF?
I have a couple of good friends that have been loyal to me over the years, from junior high school crap all the way to divorces and babies. So I want to give them a shout out when they get their own blogs. My BFF Deanna has a blog now – so if you want to read about Dee and what’s she up to, click on over to Deanna’s Blog.
Luv ya, GF! (See? I’m learning!)

About a year ago I saw a sign at the corner Walgreen’s that said “We Have Chicken Poop!” and when I first saw that I wondered what the hell is so special about chicken poop that the drug store is advertising it? I mean, wouldn’t you go to Tractor Supply or Ace Hardware for fertilizer? Why is Walgreen’s selling fertilizer? Well, they sell a little bit of everythign else these days, so I guess they can sell what they want. But it turns out that what they were advertising is not fertilizer – it is a lip balm. The thought behind the product is like that old joke about kissing a horse’s ass. If you have chapped lips, put something on them that makes you not want to lick your lips.

Somehow I came across a new show on the FX channel that I love. It is about Harley riders in California, called “Sons of Anarchy.” It’s a modern day sopa opera with some biker values and a lot of brutality and killings. So it is not really all that authentic. Bikers just do not go around killing people every week. But after it, it is Hollywood. It has some funny moments and a few authentic touches, but its too bad the writers don’t have a clue as to the real life. Scheduling sucks, too. It’s on tonight at the same time as my other favorite show on CBS. So I’ll watch my favorite show when it comes on and catch the SOA the next night “on demand.”

A country song called “There is no Arizon” was one of the most clever lyrics to talk about heartbreak and longing. I haven’t heard it on the radio for a long time, probably 3-4 years. But it sticks in my mind and I often think about Arizona. I used to want to live there and even fly out there for a job interview with the CEO of new franchise organization. But I just didn’t get the warm fuzzy feeling about Phoenix that made me want to move out there. It is a beautiful city, but not where I want to live if I have a choice.

Hopes that we could go the entire month without turning on the heat were dashed last night when the temperature dropped to below 40 degrees. Usually we can leave the thermostat alone until early December, but we had a cold blast from Canada a little early this year.
I like a warm bed with lots of layers of covers and the bedroom window cracked open just a little to keep the fresh air circulating. That’s one of my biggest problems with traveling a lot and staying in hotel rooms. A lot of the hotels now have windows that you cannot open, and some of them are in an area where I don’t even feel safe on the lower floors with an open window. So I usually feel very claustrophobic in hotels.

Last night I had a craving for pizza. We almost never order pizza anymore – it’s so fattening and too high in carbs. But every once in a while we have a craving for some and if it has been at least a month since the last one, then we’ll go ahead and order it. But we don’t just gorge on pizza. We have a small salad and limit our pizza slices to just 2 or 3. The rest goes in the refrigerator so we can have cold pizza in the morning.
