Pizza Buffet

May 24th, 2010

There is one Pizza Hut in town that has an actual dining room inside the restaurant where you can go inside and sit down and eat the pizza and wings. All the other Pizza Huts are just for delivery now.

The bst part about this Pizza Hut is that they have a buffet at lunch for only $5.99. So you can get all the pizza and salad you can eat for under six bucks. Love that!

Quiet New Years Eve

December 31st, 2009

Don’t want to go out on New Year’s Eve, so I declined the party invitations and will be staying home. Today I stopped by the nursing home again and spent a couple hours with my granny. She wanted to play cards with a couple of her friends. It is a version of rummy and it takes about 2 hours to play if everyone is paying attention and don’t get sidetracked with too many stories and jokes. It was fun, even though neither of us won the game.

I guess I will fix a nice dinner, maybe a nice salmon steak and  rice pilaf, and watch the ball drop in Times Square tonight, then get some sleep so I start the new year off on a good note.

Have a Nice Christmas

December 24th, 2009

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

I am exhausted and still have a handful of presents to wrap before I can go to bed. Tomorrow will be a busy day. Looking forward to a few hours with fmy sister’s amily and then a visit to the nursing home to share a nice dinner with my granny and my mom. The food is actually very good – and I don’t have to cook it or clean up afterward.

Then I will go to my brother’s house and hang out for a while. I always enjoy watching his kids play with their toys and games. They are so competitive but have learned to be good sports and are very generous with sharing their toys as well as their expertise on the different video games.

Hot Tea Soothes

October 3rd, 2009

This morning my throat was sore when I woke up. I can’t breathe and I feel totally awful. There’s no fever, so I guess it is not the flu. Maybe I am having a severe allergy attack? The weather has been crazy so I don’t know if it is the ragweed or the leaf mold.Or maybe a cold.

The only thing that makes me feel a little better is the hot tea. I don’t even want coffee – it makes my throat worse. So I’m sipping hot tea and staying in bed today.

My Starcracks Dealer

August 20th, 2009

flavors

For a long time I only ordered one thing from Starbucks and only went there about once a week. I knew that I liked that one flavor and didn’t see any reason to risk $5 on a drink that I wouldn’t like. But after a while I found myself looking forward to going to Starbucks every day and started getting bored with the same old drink. So I took a chance and was surprised that I liked it. But I should be going so often and I can’t help it.

Easter Brunch

April 12th, 2009

Today we are going out for brunch at a fancy restaurant downtown. It will be nice to get dressed up for Easter and enjoy some wonderful food. We would go to brunch every once in a while when I was younger and still living at home. Then I got busy and kind of forgot about it. So today will be a nice blast from the past and maybe a new tradition for me.

The Day for Lovers

February 14th, 2009

This is one of the nicest holidays that we celebrate in America. I wonder how many other countries might also celebrate Valentine’s Day? Why not celebrate love and sweethearts? I think this holiday is a great idea – it’s all about the good things in life – love, candy, flowers and jewelry. And the lucky ones get a nice dinner out, too!

Love Reynolds

November 28th, 2008

Thank you, Reynold’s wrap! If it wasn’t for the Reynold’s cooking bags, who know how my turkey would have turned out? As it was, it turned out perfect! Can you believe it? The turkey was golden brown, very juicy and really tender, with lots of juices in the bag to make the gravy. Everything turned out great! I am a cooking champion!

Bought a Turkey – Now What?

November 25th, 2008

I’m not a great cook but I succumbed to intense peer pressure and bought a turkey at Publix today. I will cook a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, with this turkey and all the traditional side dishes and even some desserts. I hope I can find some help with cooking instructions for this turkey on the internet. I wonder if Martha Stewart can cook a simple turkey or does it have to be all dressed up special with paper thingies on its legs? I’ll see if Martha can help.
